They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old; age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

We will be ordering in lawn signs (see image above) from the Legion poppy store. If you’re interested in purchasing one for $25, please call the Branch at 519-662-3770 during openings to reserve yours.
We also have “poppy center pins” for $2. These can be picked up at the Branch while supplies last.
Remembrance Day is an important time of year for the Legion. The New Hamburg branch is asking for volunteers on Tuesday, 12 Oct at 7pm to help with preparing mailers. If you are able to help, could you please reply to firstname.lastname@example.org before 7 Oct. Your help is truly appreciated and is a big part of our success in this season.
Note that all volunteers must have proof of vaccination.
We’re excited to announce that beginning in October, the New Hamburg Legion will be open for camaraderie on both Wednesday and Saturday afternoons from 1-5pm. Please note that as per government regulations, proof of vaccination is required.
This week is Legion week. In addition to reflecting on what the Royal Canadian Legion brings to veterans and our communities, we also take an opportunity to tell everyone about the benefits of joining.
We are holding a membership drive this Saturday, 25 Sept, 2021 at the New Hamburg Legion branch. It’s a great opportunity for everyone to meet many of our existing members and to learn more about being a Legion member. Everyone is welcome! You can also renew your Legion membership for 2022.
A Legion membership has many privileges, and also helps support veterans and communities across Canada. You can find more details about Legion membership at https://www.legion.ca/join-us.
It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to properly welcome new branch members. But with COVID restrictions allowing, we held a ceremony this past weekend (15 Aug 2021) to formally welcome 11 new members. The weather was perfect, which made the day all the better. But there was so much more to celebrate!
It was also a thrill to welcome descendants of our first branch president, George Thomas. Here you can read more about George and our charter. Pictured in the gallery above you can see four generations of the Thomas Family, including George Thomas (the photo in the center), Craig Thomas (son), Angelica Thomas (grand daughter), and Craig and Liam Thomas (great-grand sons). It was amazing to welcome this family!
But there was still more to celebrate! Waterloo Oxford high school students Lauren Young and Bethany Austen were presented with awards for Remembrance Day poems they had written last year and submitted for a zone competition. They both read their poems to attendees, which was a somber reminder of sacrifice and our purpose as a branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Once again, welcome to all our new members and congratulations to our award winners!
We’ve been hosting patio afternoons since Covid restrictions have allowed. We will change things up on Saturday, 21 Aug, and host breakfast. Looking forward to seeing you there! Here are the details:
