We urgently need volunteers for a Colour Party on September 3rd to open the Veterans Memorial Crosswalk.

It will be a (very) short march and virtually no drill, so you will basically only be marching to and from the crosswalk, approximately one block.

We will meet behind the New Hamburg fire hall at 12:15 PM in full Legion dress (Blazers, berets, etc.). Traffic will be disrupted due to the street closures, so plan accordingly.

Please let me know if you are able to help out so I can plan the Parade,  Colours, etc.

Sometime between Monday evening and early Tuesday morning, someone damaged our Cenotaph by using black markers to spread graffiti all over the front and sides.

Lilli Dunstall advised me by email and also notified the workers at the Township offices.

The workmen (Jake and Cody) were dispatched immediately and removed a great deal of markings and spent considerable time doing so.

This is a deplorable act and something that you would not think possible in New Hamburg, but here we are.

We ask that all Legion members “keep an eye” for anyone frequenting the area of the Cenotaph who looks dubious or suspicious. 

Unfortunately, a place of such significance has to be guarded against vandalism, but it appears that it is required. 

If anyone has any information, please let us know. It’s a sad day in New Hamburg.

The Open House celebrating 100 Years of the Legion is being held at the New Hamburg branch on Saturday, July 18th, not today as reported in the Gazette. Sorry for the mix-up. We thank the Gazette for continuing to support our branch and for setting aside such a large space in the paper. See you tomorrow at 1:00 pm.

Opening Ceremonies will take place at 65 Boullee St, New Hamburg, ON, at 12 PM

Service Canada is coming to the Legion in New Hamburg (65 Boullee St) on June 25th from 2 – 4 PM.
